Playoff Storylines: 4/20/10

Well now that the uproar over kicking and interfering has finally blown over, or at least intended to, we can move on and take a look at the storylines for tonight's games.

Phoenix Storylines: Can they keep this up without the use of their benevolent leader Shane Doan? The Czech line of Vrbata, Hanzal, and Prucha will have to continue their steady play to take a commanding 3-1 back to Glendale.

Detroit Storylines: If Howard continues to struggle, 11 goals against in just 3 games, is it too late to take a look back to the old tried and true; Chris Osgood? Or will Babcock ride the pony that brought them there?

For now, after the jump, the rest of the storylines.

New Jersey Storylines: Where is Ilya Kovalchuk? Brought in to make the Devils scary up front; and especially on the powerplay; Kovalchuk has 3 assists, and no goals, on the series, and in game 3 registered a game high 1:11 per shift; 23 seconds higher than the next Devil, but nary a shot to show for it.

Philadelphia Storylines: At this point; the question still remains; can Brian Boucher hold on? And really; that's it. Seriously, this is the Flyers', it wouldn't be right if there wasn't questions about the goalie.

Pittsburgh Storylines: Can they put the pedal to the metal, heel to the throat, and every other cliche out there, and take both games from Ottawa in Kenata? To be on the verge of clinching in 5, while others battle it out, will help keep the Pens, who've played an awful lot of hockey over the past 3 years, fresh down the stretch.

Ottawa Storylines: Can Elliot steal one? During the Sens epic win streak earlier this season, 11 games long, Elliot was routinely stealing games for the Senators to help them climb back into the Eastern Conference playoff race. Now, when it matters most, can Elliot help put the Sens back on the comeback train, especially when they're missing two top 6 forwards, and are being forced to insert; *gasp* former Rocket Richard winner Johnathan Cheechoo into the lineup.

Chicago Storylines: Can the Blackhawks offense start to get it going? With only 3 goals in two games thus far, the young, but uber-talented Chicago forwards need to start lighting the lamp.

Nashville Storylines: Can the Nashville powerplay get it going? So far 0-10 in the postseason, can they, with or without Patrick Hornqvist, get the special teams going?

San Jose Storylines: Can the recover from getting San Jose'd once again? Mentally, will they be able to recover from Boyle's blunder?

Colorado Storylines:
After already facing 129 shots in the series (average of 43 a game, by comparison, Evgeni Nabokov has only faced 69 shots. ), can Craig Anderson keep up the pace, without fading to fatigue?

Anyone else have any big storylines going into tonight's games? Comment away.
