Shero Ready to Make Moves

Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette posted an article today, saying that Shero is ready...ready to get this team into the playoffs.
"It's important for us to get into the playoffs," he said. "It's a message to the players, it's a message to our fans. That's our expectation.
Well if Shero wants to send a message, he better make a trade that is not an immediate, short term fix. They need to have a scoring winger, and one more GOOD solid defensive d-man. Players like Gogo are replaceable. Eaton? Peace out. Hal Gill? Might be leaving as well. The Pens can't make a trend of renting a winger for 25 games every year, only to lose them to free agency in the offseason. Shero knows this, hence why he's not looking short-term.

And while I agree that players like Bill Guerin, Keith Tkachuk and Doug Weight would fall into that "short-term" fix category, I still think they need one and I want Tkachuck. Tkachuk has 2...maybe 3 years left in the tank. He's never won a Stanley Cup, and he can definitely still put the puck in the net. I think his addition would allow Malkin to go back to having his own line, something that is crucial to the Pens success.

Tkachuk may be hesitant to move his family again to the East however...especially after going to Atlanta '06-'07 for the playoffs and a cup run only to be swept by the Rangers in the first round.

So in the coming weeks, look for Shero to make a few moves. Parting ways with players like Gill, Eaton, Gologowski, and Satan may be in the best interest for the Pens. I don't see "role-players" being of a priority as Cooke, Talbot, Kennedy all seem to be perfect fits here. Too bad Tenko had to break his hand, his trade value has pretty high before cracking Colby in the jaw.

The Habs have a scoring winger for you, one that played for the Pens in the past.
Please take Alex Kovalev off our hands, he'll gladly re-sign with you come July 1st and I promise he won't cost you much.

Sold. Who do you want? Can we just have him? I can pay someone to kill Carey Price for you if you wish
