Moral Victory?
Blogger:

Usually I don't do this, but I almost have to look at this trip as a moral victory for the Sabres. They stood up to the thugs of Anaheim, outhit and outfought them. They did so without the semblance of a NHL defense. And now only sit 4 back of 6th.
Now for the testy sequence out in Anaheim. Coming from the Sharks, Craig Rivet knew what sleazy thuggish stunts Anaheim pulls, so consequently, he got in 2 fights. Goose wanted to fight anything and everything that moves, he was on Getzlaf's ass the entire night. Kaleta destroyed lives. And guess what, good God, Andrew Peters won a fight. All in all, things got messy.
Hey let's watch videos! In reverse order of occurrence.
Goose got a misconduct as well, don't know if there's a video of that hanging around. End of 2nd period, players don't leave the ice. The 5 guys who ended the period stay on jawing, the Sabres bench sits and waits, Anaheim goes to the dressing room. Goose wants a piece of Getzlaf, Getzlaf goes to dressing room. Vagina.
Watching the game last night, and good Lord 10 PM starts absolutely suck balls, you could tell they were on the last end of a long trip. But still, that makeshift blueline performed pretty admirably. Toni Lydman playing close to 30 minutes? Rivet played almost 20, but he spent 10 minutes in the box. Rookies playing 22, 18, and 15. Tough.
You have to love it though, you a team is coming together and defending each other like that. Team chemistry goes a long way towards making a long run towards the playoffs.
