Toronto Gunning For Tavares

Honestly, Toronto was that bad all night. Pierre McGuire simply let loose tirade after tirade on the sloppy, selfish, and miserable play of the Leafs last night. He used all those words. He called Antropov selfish and lazy for bailing on a pass, and I quote "if you're trying not to get traded, you're not doing a very good job." Wow. It was the best TSN broadcast I had ever seen, that is for sure. All in all, quite the piss poor showing from the Leafs last night, as is evidenced by the lopsided 5-0 score.

So this was Vanek's 5th career hat trick, and 4th consecutive natural trick (3 goals in a row) which ties him for a record set in 1923 by Cy Denneny. Neat huh? Fact of the matter is most of the goals tonight Pogge simply had no chance. Terrible PK coverage by the deep men, lazy outlets or clears by the Leafs, and simply a lack of hustle that had defined Toronto's relative success this season, all contributed to the loss. Can the Leafs really justify not having a man on Vanek in front of the net on PP's? Frankly, without Pogge, that turns into another Edmonton-esque blowout.



Speaking of, check this out on Barry Melrose Rocks, Mike Milbury on Timmy Connolly, "Tim Connolly, a former fifth overall pick...when he's not injured or acting like a self-centered little dick he's a very good player." Suck it, Milbury, you traded him when he was just 20, got fired from the Islanders (bwahaha), and now frequently make an ass out of yourself on regional network TV. Again, suck it.
