The MVP Poll Winner is....
Anyway I will admit the voting time frame was way too long, but I just wanted to see how many people would vote. It's amazing how perception's can change over a 3 week period.
Vanek cooled off, now is 3rd in goals. Malkin and Crosby can't even lead their team into the top 8, even though they are currently still the top 3 in scoring. Gagne's hurt again. Ovechkin's has gone red hot, only trailing Malkin by 7 points now, while taking over the goal scoring lead.
A bunch of new guys have definitely entered the fray; Savard, Parise Thornton, and especially Iginla. But I'm not doin another poll, eff that, it's not worth it.
When that poll ended like a week ago, Malkin was still scoring multiple times a game, the Pens weren't in complete panic mode, and they were still in the playoff race (as if that means anything half way through the season).
But now Ovechkin has taken over the Rocket Richard lead, has a balanced stat sheet (27 G/ 26 A), while leading the Caps to the 2nd best record in the East. And don't use the "beating up on the Southeast weaklings" argument, look at their schedule, it hasn't worked out that way...yet.
So to recap. Malkin Quarter Season MVP. Ovechkin Midpoint MVP.
