Sabres V Penguins Initial Thoughts: Highlights in the Morning
- Ryan Miller stole that game, that edge of the glove robbing on Satan was ridiculous. There were a number of saves he made, especially on those 3 separate 5 on 3s. I even completely forgot about the diving poke check, helmet save on Crosby.
- Evgeni Malkin is THE best player in the NHL. His offensive prowess, vision, and ability is unsurpassed. Some of that was just unbelievable, he is far more noticeable than Crosby, and far more likable as well. His 2 way play isn't on par with Crosby's, but I don't think it won't be someday soon.
- Sabres defense still isn't marking well, if they could only expand their PK activity to 5 on 5 play, they'd be so much better off.
- The MacArthur, Mair, Kotalik line had fantastic pressure in the Pens offensive zone during that momentum changing 2nd period, and were rewarded with some nice ice time.
- Splitting up Roy and Vanek seems to have helped spread out the scoring, we'll see if that lasts.
- The Penguins would have a mental lapse, and the Sabres take advantage of it. Satan's weak dump in would've definitely pissed me off if I were a Pens fan.
- Sabres know they can score pretty, but it's good to see them score the ugly ones too.
- Malkin is so good, it baffles me. I almost feel bad making fun of him. Almost.
- Penguins have to be better on the PP, Gonchar and Whitney will surely help there. Therrien touched on it though in the presser, and so did Spacek, it seems the Pens always look for the wide open net with the cross ice passes, it works, but there are other plays on the PP.
- If you're going to play alongside Malkin and/or Crosby, the least you can do is be at the right place, at the right time, Ruslan Fedotenko does just that.
- Miroslav Satan, pissing off fans for nearly a decade.
- Lovejoy played 10 minutes, a hefty debut. Minard played close to 8, Pesonen only 2. His welcome to the NHL moment came in what can only be described as a Colby Armstrong-esque hit from Paul Gaustad.
- Teppo Numminen is lucky his face didn't explode on the hit from Dupuis. The question is, if that's Hollweg, Avery, or even Kaleta, would he get a penalty? suspension?

Do I have anything to add? Eh no not really, that game pissed me off so much.
- 5 on 3...TWICE...TWICE! are you Fn kidding me. I'm sorry, but when you're equipped with Crosby and Malkin on your PP and you are giftwrapped a 5 on 3 for 2 whole minutes, you score. You ALWAYS score.
- Once the Sabres killed that 5 on 3 I knew it spelled trouble, that's just too big of a momentum swing.
- Gerbe is a little annoying bitch...has great skill...but needs to learn to shoot the puck. Pull the trigger lil buddy....I know I did that a lot in college and I always felt better.
- Satan might be the laziest hockey player ever.
- Mark Eaton, please play better so we can trade you.
- I have tried that between the legs shit pass crazy thing Malkin did, it's super easy....
- Sabu...best GAA for a back-up this year. Wasn't his fault we lost.
- Who would win in a Zoolanderesque walkoff...Vanek...or Lecavalier? (prior to Jochen smashing his face in)

- 3:15 mark of the video, after the Paille goal, look at the sour grapes pens fan to the right of the celebration. Classic! What a bitch.
- To address the comment, Mia, I, among many others, find Crosby to be whiny and a little bitch. He consistently bickers with the refs, pouts, etc. while Malkin just effing plays the game. People argue this all the time, Pens fans usually deny it, while the other 29 teams' fans, while envious, wish injury upon him. VIDEO EXAMPLE: Watch the last 5 seconds of the video, Sid's real tough with the linesmen in between them, apparently he didn't see Jochen crack Lecavalier's face the other night.
